My Teaching Philosophy
Take away point: I believe that learning to play an instrument should be fun.
To this day I regret not continuing my piano lessons. I often wish that I had 20 some years of practice behind me now! However, I just couldn’t deal with the lessons. I didn’t find them fun.
The reason I was able to learn the guitar was because I was able to focus on the things I found interesting, not what someone else thought I should learn.
This is the philosophy I take into my lessons. If you want to learn theory, we can do that. If you just want to learn one of your favorite songs, we can do that too, and everything in between!
The point is to keep you interested and motivated, and if you are having fun you’re more likely to practice and to stick with it.
That is why lessons for each student will be different. My goal is to adapt our lessons and planning to the learning style and interests of the student.
