Good to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd with a new album. He’s a very good blues player.

I haven’t posted here much lately, as I haven’t been doing a whole lot outside of worship music (for more on that subject, head over to mattiefuller.com).
But today I sang that National Anthem and sang a special song at the Daylily and Wine Festival in Fishersville.
Donna Elkins, of the Greater Augusta Regional Chamber of Commerce, a lady who has done a tremendous job organizing the event for the past many years, asked me if I would be willing to write a song in honor of the 15th anniversary of the festival.
As I frequently say yes before thinking, I happily volunteered!
I had about 2 months to write the song, so obviously I didn’t get started until a couple of days beforehand. I guess I just work better under that kind of pressure. Or maybe I’m too lazy to start ahead of time!
At any rate, I was seriously dreading writing the song, because I wasn’t sure if I could come up with anything I’d want to play in public…
However, once I actually sat down and made an effort at it, a song actually started to come together (imagine that…).
So I performed the song today, and I’m actually pretty proud of it. I don’t have my lyrics in front of me now, but I’ll post them soon, once I get copies of some pictures of my playing to go with them.
So thanks Donna, for asking me to do this, I wound up really enjoying it!
